Legal marriages in Mexico are performed only by the judge of the
civil registry, usually at the offices of the Civil Registry, but
the judge goes also to hotels or other areas to perform marriage
services.
An application form for the marriage
must be filled out in Spanish and delivered to the Civil Registry
office two days before the day of the wedding. You need to provide
the following legal paper work to the Civil Registry two days before
the wedding.
Required Documents:
• Valid Passport, valid for
at least 6 months and a copy of same (both the bride and groom).
• Birth Certificate. Both the Bride and Groom must provide
a copy of his and her birth certificate.
• Blood Test results. A blood test must be performed in Mexico
two or three days prior to the wedding day at Centro de Salud in
Cabo San Lucas.
• Travel Permits. Bride and groom must each have a valid tourist
permit or other visa permitting them to travel to Mexico. Please
provide a copy.
• Divorce Decree / Death Certificate. Copy of the divorce
decree or death certificate. These documents should have a letter
attesting to the legality of the divorce from the secretary of state
of the state in the United States where they were issued, and it
should be translated into Spanish.
• Marriage Application Form. These forms are attained from
the local registry office in Mexico. You will need to specify whether
you will get married under joint or separate property on this form.
Note: If you want the wedding to
be in a place other than the offices, a fee is charged.
IN MEXICO THE CUSTOM IS TO GET
MARRIED TWICE. THE LEGAL MARRIAGE IS CONSIDERED A FORMALITY. THE
RELIGIOUS MARRIAGE IS CONSIDERED THE REALLY IMPORTANT OCCASION.

• Relationship with bride or groom

• Age
Please specify if you want
personal property to be held in joint or separate ownership.
This marriage is recognized as legal throughout the world.
