Thanksgiving

Thanks Giving
): Every year on the third Thursday of November, Americans gather with friends and family to celebrate the first harvest by the pilgrims in 1621. It is a national holiday that brings people together, and Mexicans want to get in on that beautiful tradition. Whether it’s because they have American roots, or friends and family from the states, or simply just to help the tourists feel at home while on holiday, Mexicans have embraced Thanksgiving and have made it their own. “Feliz dia de gracias” in Mexico is all about being grateful for everything they have, nature’s bounty and a time to thank the Gods of all of their blessings.
A Mexican Thanksgiving starts with decorating, much like the Americans do. Expect to see pumpkins, corn, and fall like colors to reflect the harvest season. Thanksgiving cuisine differs slightly from the US version, best just as delicious in every way. A typical Mexican feast consists of chorizo pumpkin soup, candied pumpkin, fruit and nut bread pudding, cornbread, 'camote' or sweet potatoes, mango salsa, tamales, chile- cranberry salsa, stuffed pork, and chicken or turkey tacos and enchiladas. Basically anything with spice and vibrant color is served.
The meal always begins with a traditional grace, and then gets jovial as food, drinks and stories get passed around the table. If you are going to be in Cabo San Lucas this holiday season, join us at Hacienda Encantada for a Mexican Thanksgiving feat like no other. Make new traditions with us as we gather and celebrate all we are thankful for, in a breathtaking setting overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
